For those who don’t know me, my name is Brian Schweberger.

I started playing disc golf in February of 1997, a friend from work introduced it to me. I was not hooked immediately. I did not play alot until about July of ‘97. I played 15 to 20 rounds a week before I joined the PDGA in late ‘97.

My first sanctioned tournament was as an advanced player in 1998. I played 6 months as an advanced player never slating a win to my record. I went to AM World’s in ‘98 in Wisconsin. I ended up finishing in 6th place, after only playing for a year and a half. I decided to turn Pro.

In 1999 I won my 1st tournament as a Disc Golfer, the 1st annual Zebulon Cha Ching and Zing. To beat all the top players in the Raleigh area meant alot to me. It gave me more drive to develop my game to the next level. I knew if I could do well in the this region, I could do well in the National scene.

In 2001 I moved in with Brian McRee and Dave Mansfield in Wendell, NC.(just 5 minutes from Zebulon, my favorite course at the time) While there Brian and I talked several times about going out on Tour and trying to play disc golf for our living. Traveling the country was something that I always wanted to do and disc golf was the vehicle for this. 2002 rolled around and Brian and I found a nice RV and we picked up Billy Crump and we went out on Tour. The 3 of us plus Brian’s dog Yukon toured for 3 years as The Carolina Crew.

The 2003 Worlds was a bit of a let down for me, as I was there 2 weeks proir practicing the courses. During the very first round on the Sno Bowl course, a hail storm started and suspended play halfway thru the round. Many players were stranded on top of the mountain, including myself. After 3 truck loads of people were toated off the mountain is was finally my turn, along with 7 others. Their was not enough room in the cab of the truck to fit me and Cary Trotter, so we hopped in the bed of the truck and rode down the mountain in the back. Halfway down we hit a bad bump in the road and I almost got thrown out of the truck, but I caught myself on the edge, jamming my thumb on my throwing hand. It hurt very badly, and swelled over twice the size of normal. I tried to play the next round the next day but my grip strength was only about 50%. I DNF’d at the end of the round. Luckily there was a hightlight for that Worlds. At the Awards Banquet I ended up receiving the Bob West Sportsmanship Award for the 2002 season. By far the best accolade of my career and probably my life.

After 3 amazing years with 2 great friends Brian and Billy went back to the Real World and back to work. I on the other hand had a different plan. I had at least one more good year of tourning left in me. For the 1st part of 2005 I did mostly a Eastern tour with the exception of The Memorial in Arizona.

In April of 2005 I married Ashley Barnes. It was the Highest Rated wedding ever. Best man was McRee, ushers were Crump, Climo, Schultz, Walt Haney, Larry Leonard, and Ashley’s 2 brother’s. The ceremony went off without a hitch and the reception was a blast. Many golfers from the area and around the country were in attendance. It meant alot to Ash and I that they all missed one of the biggest tournaments of the year to be apart of our wedding.(Bowling Green NT)

To show how Awesome my new wife is, we went on our honeymoon in Daytona for 4 days and on the way back we stopped in Augusta, GA for the 3 day NT Hall of Fame Classic. Considering I had not praticed very much during the 2 weeks prior to the NT, I still finished 6th, which I was very happy with.
