2008 Alamance County Pro/Am
If I have the chance to defend a previous years title I will be there, but when I did not see this event on the PDGA schedule I planned to be at work for this weekend. Three weeks after I gave my schedule to my manager this event pops up onto the PDGA schedule. Luckily, 2 days before the event I was lucky enough to trade days with a fellow employee and got the weekend off.
I have to thank Rod “The Bod” Gilmore for running this event, his first ever as a TD. Without him this tourney might not have come to fruition this year. I really love playing these 2 courses, they perfectly balance each other out. The cool thing about this event is that anybody that can throw 300 feet has a legitimate chance of winning.
The first round we played Wellspring from the long pads and -8 was leading. The second round we played the shortest Cedar Rock layout. The hot round was by Brent Mabry who shot 16 under on the 20 hole course. So, after day one McRee was in the lead by one over me and I had 2 strokes on Johansen.
That night was alot of fun camping out, this was the first time that I had camped at Cedar Rock. We had a real good card game that night. The campers for the night were Big Wave, Howie, Babbles, IlluminaTTa, Elvis, MJ, SULTan, “O”ran and myself.
Sunday brought another day of great weather and some fun golf. 3rd round was Wellspring again but this time from the short tees. I shot the hot round of 41 which put me 2 strokes in the lead over McRee and 3 over MJ. So the last round was Cedar Rock orignal baskets from the Red Tees. I ended up shooting an 11 under 49 which was the hot pro round which gave me the win by 4 over McRee and 5 over Johansen. But the story of the final round was David Wiggins Jr. shooting the hot round of the final round which was a 13 under 47.
Other than winning this event the main highlight of this event for me was it being my first ever Bogey free tournament.
Thanks Schwebby, and great playing this whole year!!

Thanks Schweb. Glad you could make it even with the short notice. Congrats on the win. See you at Sneeky Pete. (You’ll have more than 2 weeks notice on this one)
